Before you can join TLM, there are some rules to follow! Make sure to read them before you create a character! Moderators and Administrators can add and change these rules whenever they see fit.
General Rules!
Be Respectful! The staff work hard to bring you a site to enjoy, so they appreciate the same respect back, as well as to other members! And if you are found bullying anywhere, depending on the severity, you will be given a warning and/or banned without warning.
Don't take take IC things OOC. If another character picks a fight with your character, that doesn't mean they're picking a fight with you personally.
You must sign onto the site at least once within two weeks! If you have not posted a leave of absence, and have not signed on in five weeks or less, your character risks being deleted. Also, activity checks and certain events cannot be evaded, so you want to be here for them.
No advertising! There is a whole board for advertising, there is no need to advertise in the shoutbox, or anywhere other than advertising.
Anime pictures allowed! Obviously, not all realistic pictures will match your character, so feel free to use an anime or cartoon character, but if it's hand drawn please give credits to owner or don't use!
Your profile pictures must have your character! Only one picture has to look like your character, the other can be anything you want, but if you need ideas it can be something that represents your character's power, such as fire in a glass or a melting ice cube.
Keep it PG-14! If you plan on go any higher than that, be sure to mark the thread 'M' or take it to PMs.
Character Rules!
Every character has to be on a separate account! And post on the character list as well - this is to prevent confusion, and so we don't have search the whole site to find which character is which and who is whom. And remember to register with your character's name.
Please don't roleplay until your bio is accepted. Please wait until a staff member has approved your character biography before you start roleplaying, to make sure everything is acceptable for the site.
You have two weeks to complete your form! Once you join, your have two weeks to post and complete your form for your character, otherwise you are deemed inactive and in danger of being deleted. This is to prevent auto-accounts and spammers, as well as keep the site nice and tidy.
You must have at least one character! You cannot give/adopt all your characters away, you must have one. If you are swapping two characters out for one, you must put one up for adoption and wait until it is adopted, then make the character you want, before putting the second one up for adoption.
All bi-ligual characters' speech must be translated! If your character happens to speak another language, any speech in that language must be translated to English, even if you know the person you're roleplaying with understands that language as well - so everyone can enjoy it.
Do not double post! This counts as spamming and is prohibited. If there is something you forgot and needed to add in your post, or you found an error after posting it, that is what the edit button is for!
No superplaying! This includes powerplaying (controlling someone else's character) godmodding (making your character invincible) and metaplaying (taking OOC knowledge IC). This rule can be broken if the other character gives permission, or in some circumstances where the fight-winner is pre-decided.
All posts must be in third person! Remember, you are not actually that character, you are simply roleplaying it. "I"s and "my"s are not allowed, unless part of dialogue.
Every IC post should be at least 100 words! We are a semi-literate site, and we ask that each post in character be at least 100 words long. There is a post counter in the corner that allows you to see where you stand so far while writing! And please refrain from using text speak, using numbers as letters, etc.
No auto-completed actions! This is another form of meta-playing, in which a character knows something before they've done it. Ie, a character would not know a town by heart the first time he or she visits it. They would have to be there multiple times, in character. Also, your character does not know what happened in character until the thread is complete (or has died due to characters not responding). This rule can occasionally be broken.
Don't bite off more than you can chew! Liquid time is allowed, and you can be in as many threads as you wish. But make sure that you can handle them all, so the other roleplayer isn't waiting three weeks for you to reply. Also, make sure forums are in time. If character A starts an RP with character B on the 3th of November, then character C on the 5th, even if the RP with Mancer B finishes after the RP with Kinesiser C, Manipulator A still met Mancer B first, as that thread was created first.
Only four characters at first! You can have up to four characters when you first join, before you have to ask the staff if you can have another, as well as purchase a slot. This is to ensure that you both meet our literacy requirement, as well as that you are active on all your accounts, and are not just letting them rot.
