There is a long and interesting story behind the Benzaiten Acadamy, as well as the rift. Years ago in Medieval times, humans and the supernatural creatures happily co-existed, Humans taking advantage of the help they gained from the powerful creatures. But one day, something terrible changed that all. Mancers were charged with the duty of protecting the
towns they lived in, in exchange for living there at first. Other superhuman and supernatural creatures existed, particularly Werewolves, Vampires, and Warnymphs. The Mancers swore to protect the town and everyone in it with their life, and did just so, driving out all the blood-lusting creatures from the small humans, personally guarding them for centuries. But
the more they humanoids tried, the more intelligent they became, and banded together, initiating a war against the main village, Kaiyne. The Mancers fought with all the power they had, but a few Vampires and Nymphs slipped through the cracks, disguising themselves as Mancers and travelled to the castle where the Royal family live. Killing the King, Queen, and two Princesses alike, the left but were soon caught by a royal guard on his run to check on the rulers. The fight broken up and the Mancers blamed, they were killed on the spot, a few managing to escape into the woods and run for their lives.
Since then, there had been an order to kill any supernatural creature at all on the spot, including the wrongly blamed Mancers. Disappearing into a jungle far from civilization, they settled for some time, re-creating their species until they were strong in numbers once again. But they had been tracked down, law to find the Mancers and destroy them once and for all, good and bad together. The Elders of Matter, Psych, Space and Energy banded together, creating a tear in the universe to another dimension, for them to escape and live normally. Leaving behind the truely evil beasts of power, as well as the humans, the ventured into what would later be re-named "The Rift", entering a desolate and un-touched world, with dangerous air and no elements such as water, plants, or even time. Using their powers in harmony, in nearly four earth years, it was completely habitable and finished, with its own little race living in it. However, to make sure the lands stayed how they were, they fused every element together in the form of a crystal. But this power was enough to easily take over the entire universe, should someone manage to get their hands on the completely new kind of stone.
Every child, teenage, and adult was to be able to open and close the Rift, in order to protect it, but only a select few were chosen to guard it. And thus, the Benzaiten Academy was created, named after the Goddess of everything that flowed. The ages to attend were a mere 6 years old, up to 25, all the grades in one place instead of many. Teaching about the history of the races, how to fight, down to simplistic math, the Academy was grand, filled with activities and challenges. They were allowed to leave for some time to go to the town, but everything they needed was in the Acadamy, more often than not. They live in perfect peace for centuries, until some things began falling through the Rift. Though it was sealed and well guarded, some things managed to slip through. Nothing to much of a threat though, the Mancers are on guard for potential danger, keeping a close eye on everything. Now, instead of optional, everyone must attend the Academy to help protect their race. Will you be a soldier? Or a Runaway rebel?
